Synkro and Fantastic Mr Fox on one bill means this Friday the 13th is far from unlucky. The former’s minimal 8-bit ditties are understated and pensive without ever being plaintive; fragile percussion is dappled over warm swelling synth-lines, often with furry static creeping in and out like the crackle of old vinyl. Fantastic Mr Fox’s subtly jubilant productions mix delicately optimistic melodies with jiggy 2-step arrangements to a similarly emotive effect. If you can’t tell, we’re damn excited about this one.
