Disco&Co.ast Special, Sat 23rd June
We always like to welcome Londoners coming to throw a southside party down in Brighton. We have fond memories of being invited to play at Joe Goddard’s Greco Roman shindig and tearing the place apart with music that was probably a bit tougher than they wanted us to play.
No such problems this weekend as our editor lines up a new school vs old school house set that fits in perfectly (he hopes) with East London outfit Disco&Co’s mix of Balearic house vibes and loft party disco. But the music doesn’t end there, incorporating “Philly funk, Classic NYC disco, the Sheffield synth stalwarts, Manc warehouse anthems and Whitney, always Whitney.”
Disco&Co residents Chris Bamford, Dan Minty and Le Cockle should take up any slack as they’ve kept people dancing at Big Chill, Warm, Camino and their home at The Horse & Groom.
“We’ve been wanting to play in Brighton for a few years but didn’t have a venue,” they say. “We like the boozer vibe, more intimate, hopefully our nights feel like a good-friends private party so the Bristol is perfect. They’re putting on a one off musically inspired menu including a disco-gumbo, whatever that is.”
