Say hello to Brighton’s newest music store when independent label success Bella Union Records opens its Vinyl Shop in the Lanes this week (Wednesday 8th June). Owned by former Cocteau Twins bassist Simon Raymonde, musicians signed to Bella Union include Father John Misty, John Grant, Explosions In The Sky and Beach House and the new shop in Ship Street Gardens (that long alley between Ship Street and Middle Street) will focus on releases and merchandise from the label’s acts. The shop’s opening day includes live music from violinist and composer Fiona Brice (2pm) and Jamie Lee from Manchester band Money (5pm), with beloved alt-rock dreamers Mercury Rev popping by to celebrate too (6pm).
