Pinkshinyultrablast, Wed 7th October

You would be forgiven for wanting to check this band out just because of their rather excellent name. Ethereal vocals and lustrous guitars, they are shoegaze at its finest with the added twist that they hail from modern day Russia as opposed to early 90s Britain – the era usually associated with the genre. With shades of Cocteau Twins in the vocal styles and aspects of Slowdive in their sound, Pinkshinyultrablast create their own unique and rather beautiful atmosphere with an energy driven by drumming that may actually encourage dancing, which is risky at any shoegaze gig. We’re hoping for a show that bathes and envelops us in guitar reverb to keep us warm as winter approaches.
