Sussex torch singer Philip Jeays, a champion of ‘real music’, uses cheery pop puppet Murs’ name as shorthand for the TV talent show conveyor belt and all that’s wrong with today’s British music industry. But when did Mr Jeays last enjoy four number one singles and an arena tour? For that matter, when did Mr Murs last fellate a penguin whilst dressed as Rasputin’s mum? Without concerts like this the teenagers of 2016 would have nothing to be embarrassed about.

Second Opinion by Amy Jo McLellan
When Olly Murs came second in 2009’s X Factor, few imagined that he’d soon be enjoying extensive arena tours and have two platinum albums under the belt of his infamously tight trousers. Now he returns to the Brighton Centre for two nights of chart-topping pop hits. Perhaps Brighton’s Rizzle Kicks will even stage invade for ‘Heart Skips A Beat’. Either that or they’ll be a cameo from another recent collaborator, Miss Piggy, but an appearance from Jordan and Harley seems more plausible.

Adam Peters
Adam Peters started out publishing football fanzines in the late 80s. Various jobs on video games magazines and a brief dalliance scripting photo love stories for the teen press followed. Switching media to television, he co-wrote David Walliams' first sitcom, was somehow once BAFTA-nominated and now concentrates on pre-school animation series. Coming full circle, in 2013 he launched a roller derby fanzine.
