1BTN Radio International Women’s Day Takeover

This International Women’s Day (IWD22), 23 female presenters take over 1BTN’s airwaves for 24 hours.

From midnight to midnight on Tuesday 8th March, tune in to Brighton & Hove’s acclaimed independent radio station 1BTN to nourish your ears on female-focused music spanning genres including Afrobeat, disco, grime, punk, techno, and everything in between.

The IWD22 campaign theme #BreaktheBias is at the heart of the takeover; for 24 hours, 23 female and non-binary DJs will spin tunes in solidarity, calling out gender bias, discrimination, and stereotyping.

For the fourth year in a row, 1BTN International Women’s Day Takeover mixes melodic delight with an additional local cause: raising money for RISE, the Sussex based domestic abuse charity. The 1BTN takeover will help RISE meet its fundraising goal of £25,000. With match funding pledged by The Big Give, donations have doubled the impact in supporting RISE’s vital services.

“So, tune in and dig deep!” says Kerry Jean Lister from 1BTN.
