Yumi And The Weather, Thurs 1st Dec

A cracking little show from Melting Vinyl as Brighton multi-instrumentalist Yumi And The Weather brings a new batch of songs to the Hope & Ruin next month.

Yumi’s second long player ‘It’s All In My Head’ is what may be called in the parlance of our times, “an absolute banger”; electro-rock adventures that recall Joan As Policewoman and produced by Jimmy Cauty (he of the million pound-burning KLF fame). Now primarily a soloist, Ruby Taylor has spoken frankly about her experience of mental illness and these themes are mainlined into much of her music. It’s been played on BBC 6 Music and Radio X, Clash, DJ Magazine and Line Of Best Fit are big fans.

Support comes from fellow Brighton artists The New Eves and London-Jordanian popstrel Ziyad Al-Samman. Expect power and passion at what is likely to be something of a special homecoming show.
