Silver Moth, Weds 8th Nov

Floating in on a folky haze of post-rock smoke that soon reveals a more explosive undertow, the debut album by Silver Moth was released by Brighton-based label Bella Union on the 21st of April in some stunning packaging.

That it was recorded by a collective of artists in at a studio on the Isle of Lewis completes the image. One can imagine the musicians enjoying a wee dram of single malt, and the bracing sea air of the Outer Hebrides before launching into these expansive improvised songs, while a fire crackles in the corner and the highland cattle look on stunned.

Put together by Elisabeth Elektra and Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai, and featuring members drawn from a multitude of bands, the seven-piece group have now announced their debut UK tour, which, thanks to the sterling work of Love Thy Neighbour includes a date in Lewes.

If Mogwai play Brighton, they play the Dome as they did in February this year. This will be a rare chance to experience such stunning soundscapes in a much much smaller and intimate venue and is guaranteed to sell out.

Love Thy Neighbour presents Silver Moth
Lewes Con Club, Wednesday 8th November 2023
