Any Brightonian will tell you their hometown is bursting with talent, proved once again by the success of local boy Conor Maynard in MTV’s ‘Brand New…’ competition. He’s come a long way from posting chart covers onto YouTube, after scooping 45% of the vote to beat King Charles (who played The Great Escape for our SOURCE Vs Recommender party a few years back) and Lana Del Ray. Also among the finalists was the BBCs ‘Sound of…’ winner Michael Kiwanuka, making an altogether talented bunch of competitors. He’ll have moved on from the ‘British Beiber’ any day now.
