Ditz Announce New Album and Massive Headline Show at Chalk

Ever since we first caught them opening for ‘John’ at The Prince Albert, Team Source has developed a deep sense of love and devotion for this band of Brighton noise merchants. It has been a deeply rewarding affair that has provided us with many thrilling moments of live music. Whether that be riotous moshing to that Peaches cover or watching with our jaws on the floor as drummer Sam piled up his kit and threatened to destroy it with a single drum stick. This latter display, during their 2023 late night Fiddlers Elbow set at the Great Escape, was one of the most ‘out there’ examples this writer has ever witnessed of a musician losing himself in the moment at a gig.

There really is a reason Joe Talbot regularly used to tell the assembled masses, “Ditz, Best band in Brighton!” whenever he took to a stage in our fair city, and why more recently Idles invited Ditz to spend the early part of this year touring the enormo-domes of Europe as their main tour support.

Somehow during this, they managed to record their second album ‘Never Exhale’, which will be released in January 2025. Some songs have crept into the set already over the last year, and it has been produced by Seth Manchester who did a phenomenal job on Model/Actriz’s debut album.

They have also announced their biggest UK headline tour to date, which includes a show at Chalk on the 4th of April and the Garage in London amongst others.

Taken from the album, new single ‘Space/Smile’ is already starting to get air time on BBC 6Music thanks to Deb Grant, Tom Ravenscroft and Steve Lamacq. It invites the listener to “put on a happy face. Lets all dance together and drink from the same cup.” Well, all we can say is that you don’t need to tell us twice. Source is however a bit worried that in a hometown gig that frenzied, the beer is going to be all over our heads and clothes and definitely not managing to stay in the cup.
