The Fallen Leaves, Saturday 28th February

Regular visitors to Brighton, The Fallen Leaves formed in 2004 and describe their music as ‘punk rock for gentlemen’ and ‘simple songs for complex people’. This sits well with their strict ‘no jeans, no t shirts, no cover versions’ credo and their suited and booted, tea-drinking demeanour.

Musically, their sound is a sophisticated blend of garage and punk that harks back to the 1960s and the Medway bands of the 1980s, all delivered in singer Rob Green’s crisp English accent (no Americanisms here). They’ve shared the stage with many contemporaries including Billy Childish’s Buff Medways, The Masonics and Eater and for this show they will be joined by Brighton’s own, Fractured.

Fractured have been chronicling the idiosyncrasies of Brighton and adult life for many years with songs such as London Road and The Preston Park Popular Front and, after several CD only releases, put out their first vinyl album, Replastered’ in 2025. Their live shows always entertain and usually involve singer Jeff Hayward ditching the stage and dancing with the audience.

The new album includes the excellent What.Ever. which perfectly captures the excruciating efforts involved in talking with a teenager and fan favourites such as Terry Smith’s Party and Riot In The Supermarket. Get there early as they will certainly warm up the crowd and put smiles on everyone’s faces.

The Fallen Leaves and Fractured play The Prince Albert on Saturday 28th February. Doors at 7:30pm.

Tickets are available online here.
