Jam Tarts Competition

Thanks to Glee and that Gareth Malone bloke, amateur and community choirs have never been more popular. Brighton’s got loads, from the Gay Men’s Chorus to the City Singers and Hullabaloo, but arguably the most unusual are Jam Tarts, celebrating their seventh birthday this year.

The 60-odd delicious Tarts devote their time to retooling indie and punk tunes, belting out classics by the likes of The Smiths, Sex Pistols, Tom Waits and Mumford & Sons – in unique four-part harmonies arranged by Queen of Tarts, Li Mills.

If you missed Jam Tarts at the Meadowlands festival or at their sell-out Unitarian Church gig in May, fear not – they’re playing a full show with rockabilly stalwarts The Stuntmen on Sat 7 July at the Sallis Benney Theatre, and we’ve got four pairs of tickets to give away.

Just email [email protected] with JAM TARTS as the subject for a chance to see them in action (we’ll do the draw on 2 July).

And if you don’t win, you can still buy tickets at Resident and Rounder – look out for the union flag with a tart in the middle!
