Amelia & The Housewives seemed to appear fully formed a couple of years ago with their debut single released on the esteemed Damaged Goods label. Maybe was a 4/4 stomper that sounds like an unearthed 60s beat classic, given a 21st century polish and remains a live favourite. They recorded five songs before playing any live shows, all of which were played by John Kennedy on Radio X, who described them as “Brighton’s best kept secret”.

Since Maybe they’ve played all over Brighton and London, growing their fanbase with each show and released two more singles, both of which will be on their debut album, released 2nd October. To celebrate, they will play a free album launch show at Daltons on Saturday 3rd October. It all kicks off at midday, and you’ll want to get there early as support comes from the excellent Superfriends (check out their album King Of The Moths on Bandcamp here) plus DJ Ben Salter (Chains of Love), who will be playing indie and soul classics.

Their live shows have a tendency to turn into a party, with the crowd invading the stage and Amelia singing and dancing in the audience. In addition to their own wonderful indie pop slices of everyday life, there’s a good chance they’ll squeeze in a classic cover version or two. It’s a matinee, it’s free, so get along to Daltons, buy the album and join the celebrations.
