Dexys Midnight Runners fans have three opportunities to catch Kevin Rowland and his bandmates over the next few months.
Firstly, Resident Music has secured two instore gigs on Wednesday 9th September at 6:30pm and 8:30pm. These will be solo sets with Kevin Rowland to tie in with the release of their latest (and it’s been suggested final) album LOVE. The fact that they have reverted to their full-length name, after going by the shortened Dexys for their last three albums, may be an indication that they are completing the cycle that began in 1980 with their classic debut album Searching for the Young Soul Rebels.
The 6:30pm event is waiting list only but tickets are available for the later performance via DICE.
For those seeking the full-blown concert experience, they will be performing at Brighton Dome Concert Hall on Sunday 1st November. Their most recent shows have been well-staged, theatrical experiences, with many of the songs being acted out with additional dialogue. Read our review of their 2023 Dome show here.
The recent My Life In England Pt 1. Single sees Rowland in a reflective mood, looking back on his Irish immigrant childhood in Wolverhampton. This, combined with last year’s Sunday Times bestselling autobiography Bless Me Father, may indeed be an indication that Rowland is considering calling it a day. We sincerely hope this is not the case as each new endeavour Rowland undertakes proves he remains a unique and important figure in British music.
Dexys Midnight Runners play Brighton Dome Concert Hall on Sunday 1st November.
Tickets are available from the Dome box office and online here.
