Railcard/Would-Be-Goods Matinee Show, Sunday 13th September

Rachel Love (ex-Dolly Mixture) has been releasing wonderful, dreamy music under her own name for a few years now and, following their first three EPs, her latest band Railcard, release their debut album ‘Two Steps At A Time’ on 18th September. To celebrate, they will be playing an afternoon launch gig at Brighton Railway Club at Seven Dials on Sunday 13th September. Alongside Rachel, the group features Peter Momtchiloff (Heavenly, Would-be-goods) on bass, Allison Thomson on trumpet and vocals, and Ian Button on drums, vocals and guitar. The album will be released on Skep Wax records, whose enviable roster also includes Heavenly, The Cords and the show’s co-headliners, would-be-goods.

Formed in 1987 and named after the 1901 novel The Wouldbegoods, by The Railway Children author E. Nesbit, Would-Be-Goods are a British indie pop band comprised of singer Jessica Griffin, guitarist Peter Momtchiloff (Heavenly, Railcard), Debbie Green, former drummer of Thee Headcoatees, and Andy Warren, legendary bassist of the original Adam And The Ants and The Monochrome Set.

They released their latest album ‘Tears Before Bedtime’ in February and three singles, including the latest ‘Tears For Leda’. As ever, singer and songwriter Jessica Griffin performs in her precise received pronunciation voice to produce elegant and melancholy indiepop with a BBC accent, as they describe themselves on Bandcamp.

Doors open at 2pm, with music starting at 3pm and this is an all-ages show.

Tickets are available now at wegottickets.com.
