Want To Perform With Rizzle Kicks?

Brighton’s hip-pop princes Rizzle Kicks are now mostly to be found releasing platinum-selling albums, rubbing shoulders with Ed Sheeran and grooving around YouTube, but they started out as participants of local music charity AudioActive’s Hip Hop Foundation. Offering free workshops for young people to learn rap and performance skills and music production techniques, the Hip Hop Foundation has just begun another cohort of weekly sessions.

In celebration, Rizzle Kicks are playing a benefit gig at the Brighton Dome, and are looking for two talented local acts to play on the night. Any urban-inspired musical performers aged 21 or under, based locally with a 15-20 minute set can apply, but must be available on March 27th for the gig and March 21st for the audition. There will be an audience of 2,000 so it is a valuable opportunity for musicians to gain experience, make contacts and expand their fan-base.

To apply, complete the online application form at audioactive.org.uk with links to two of your tracks and some information about your act. The deadline is 18th March.

The Hip Hop Foundation’s free workshops are every Monday evening at Brighton Youth Centre on Edward Street, and applicants can sign up to as many or few as they like. The themes of the workshops vary weekly but include live looping, recording techniques, beatboxing, turntablism, and performance skills.
