Brighton Fashion Week 2013

Where better to showcase innovative, eccentric and fantastical designs than our quirky, fabulously-dressed seaside resort? Brighton Fashion Week returns and brings with it a whole host of both established and up and coming design talent from all corners of the globe. This year also introduces welcome new additions to the Fashion Week line-up, with the Showreel and Sustain catwalk shows set to dazzle and inspire spectators in that order. With a few familiar faces and the Zeitgeist show remaining on the agenda, Brighton Fashion Week seeks to build from the foundations of its previous successes whilst experimenting with new potential. So, just make sure you clear your Louis Vuitton diary for the week and join Brighton’s fashionistas on the front row. BFW FTW, as some might say.

Zeitgeist
Thurs 13th St Bartholomew’s Church
As any regular Fashion Week attendee will be aware, the Zeitgeist show is a highlight of the programme. Combining avant-garde designs with the sophisticated and refined, the show is an innovative fashion and design spectacular. It’s Zeitgeist that also welcomes the return of Jess Eaton, renowned for her life-after-death Roadkill Couture, who brings her brand new collection exclusively to Brighton Fashion Week and is bound to stun spectators once again. This is not just a fashion show, this is a fashion extravaganza.

Sustain
Fri 14th St Bartholomew’s Church
A first for Brighton Fashion Week, Sustain seeks to dispel previous assumptions and prove that environmentally conscious fashion designs can be glamorous and desirable. Emerging talents bringing their sustainable designs to the forefront include Rebecca Jane Taylor, who you may be familiar with for her Speedo Unity Dress at the 2012 London Olympics. This show provides pleasure for the eyes whilst also tapping into your conscience and gently encourages you to reconsider your approach to clothes and the environment.

Showreel
Sat 15th St Bartholomew’s Church
A real playground for the imagination, Showreel takes all of the wonder, fantasy and extravagance of the theatre and transforms St. Bartholomew’s Church into its stage. Watch as influential minds push the boundaries of creativity and pull up the curtains for a performance like no other. Keep an eye out for Brighton-based designer Curve Couture, with her inspiring, elegant and feminine creations. From the classic to the alternative, to the downright bizarre, Showreel offers its spectators a true showstopper.

High Street Fashion Show
Sun 16th Churchill Square
Like what you see? Then buy it, right here and now. Unlike other catwalk events, the High Street Fashion Show displays affordable items and achievable looks – something you never thought you’d see. With summer (hopefully) just around the corner, high street stores come together to create your ideal sunny get up, complete with perfect price tags. The only downside being that, unfortunately, they can’t promise the perfect summer weather to match.
