Compared to summer, autumn sucks. But the very fine silver lining on the massive storm clouds is that it’s time to go shopping for scarves. We’re not expecting to find one with a hood – a hood! a bloody hood! – like Nicki here but it’s the one accessory that you can kid yourself is actually practical rather than merely decorative. And anyway, a good scarf can just about prolong the use of jackets until January, when you can get a new winter coat in the sale. We haven’t made up our minds about which way we’re going on the scarf front but we’re edging towards 70s rambler chic for AW09/10 – if we’re stylistically wrong at least we’ll be warm.
