Stylish doesn’t always mean high heels and a face full of slap. Katie wears her tracky bums and retro jumper combo with pride, all expertly held together with a fat gold chain for some Run DMC-style embellishment. She doesn’t channel any particular style icons when putting an outfit together, just citing sportswear, unusual knitwear and fat (and fake) gold chains as essential parts of her regular attire.
A recent émigré to London, where she works for a digital agency making websites and mobile apps, we spotted Katie while she was back having some downtime in her old homestead of Brighton, for a day’s outing of pancakes and a go on the waltzers, We think it’s fair to say 80s fashions never die – Katie’s keeping them well and truly alive by making some of their fundamentals look entirely contemporary.

Jumper pinched from a friend
“My friend took it from a friend and now I have it. I swapped her a t-shirt with a shih-tzu print for it though, totally fair.”

Gold chain necklace from Topshop
“I always like to wear one big piece, usually around my neck. The smaller necklace is a present from my Jewish auntie – it’s a ‘Chai’ which means ‘life’, it’s like a lucky charm.”

Earrings borrowed from a friend
“The earrings are a loan from my best friend, they were Nanny Jo’s, so I’m looking after them nicely.”

Tracksuit bottoms from SportsDirect
“They’re Playboy ‘harem joggers’ that I ordered from SportsDirect for about two pounds as a sort of joke, I thought they’d have ‘Playboy’ written across the ass but they don’t, just a modest bunny on the ankle. But they’re so comfy they’re one of my favourite things to wear now.”

Trainers from Nike Town
“I don’t do too much jogging, so they’re just for comfort. I got them from Nike Town on Oxford Street.”
