You don’t get very far in men’s fashion without stumbling across Peggs And Son. Not only are they Brighton’s stockist of Fallow Denim (see the SOURCE interview this month), you can also find Daniel here behind the counter advising people on some of the best clothes in the city. No wonder his understated American college ensemble caught our eye while we were roaming the alleys of The Lanes.

With clothes that whisper quality rather than scream with logos and prints, it’s a stylishly subtle take on Baltimore’s oversized white t-shirt look that’s crept right through the skate and hip hop scenes and is now edging into the mainstream. But is he always baggy? “It depends how I feel when I wake up in the morning,” Daniel admits. “Today I felt like being a bit more loose, a bit street, a bit more relaxed. It depends on which day you catch me on.”

A big fan of British labels like Folk (“They always have really nice twists or an added detail”), he also saves a place on his body for Brighton imprints like Fallow and Heritage Research.
“There’s a lot of different styles in Brighton, which is nice,” says the former Londoner when asked whether Brighton is a well-dressed city. “And I think there’s a couple of cats that are really stylish. It’s a good place for being individual.”

Air Force 1 trainers by Nike
“They’re a classic shoe, an iconic Nike shoe. I’ve got a lot of trainers and I rotate them so they don’t really get too messed up.”

Jeans by Nudie

“They’re the Average Joe version. I’m just a big fan of Nudies – I like everything that’s Scandinavian. I’ve got different looks and today I preferred a baggier take.”

T-shirt by Vans

“I’m a big fan of white t-shirts, I don’t really like stuff with images on the front at the moment anyway. I like the skater style, like the jeans oversized.”

Jacket by Alife

“I love all the varsity jackets, I love the streetwear stuff. It’s a cotton one so it’s good for summer cos normally you have the leather sleeves. It’s a nice classic understated jacket.”

Bag by Duluth

“It’s a collaboration with Heritage Research, from the people behind Trainerspotter, who are from Brighton. I like the whole preppy Ivy League look.”
