We’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of Mutations Festival since it first took over the city in 2015. It’s back this month as an all-day exploration of musical innovators and genre hybrids in a secret location (hint: it’s Hansen Hall, a multi-room venue on Brighton’s outskirts).
The event features around a dozen acts with eclectic styles. The indefatigable and visceral garage/psyche/prog of Austin TX’s White Denim. The Bill Hicks referencing ferocious garage of Goat Girl. The sun-drenched and danceable multisensory trip of Flamingods. Your new favourite post-punk cave people Snapped Ankles. And the immersive, Swedish Grammy winning space pop of Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation.
There will also be a ‘localised laboratory’ of exhibitions, pop-ups and after-parties. Mutations is a world class festival a stone’s throw from town, what are you waiting for?
