Riots Mixtape – Songs and Stories of Pride, Fri 2nd Aug

On Friday 2nd August, local collective TraumFrau and the Queer Songbook band propose an exploration of the meaning of Pride throughout history with an original live show where participants will perform a live rendition of their “queerest and dearest song” at The Spire (St Mark’s Chapel).

This unique event will take you on an emotional journey where music merges with storytelling and other art forms, as every performer comes from a different background, be it singing, writing, dance, cabaret, circus, visual arts, theatre or activism. Each guest will sing their chosen song with the beautiful backing of the Queer Songbook ensemble.

According to TraumFrau, “this is not a simple music gig or a talent show for great voices, it’s a collective experience of both listening and sharing, with music being an intimate reminder of our shared humanity. The guests are professional, amateur, as well as first-time singers, their performance is held together by the skills of professional musicians.”

Doors will open at 6.30pm for an aperitif and chats, followed by the live performance an hour later. The night will conclude with a disco DJ afterparty from 10.30pm, so don’t forget your dancing shoes!

Riots Mixtape: Songs and stories of Pride is set to be a fantastic evening which offers one of the most moving, interesting and entertaining way to kickstart your Pride weekend.
