Fortune Favours the Rave, Sat 3rd February

The festival season may seem a long, long way away but those seeking a brief return to that fantasy world of costumes, music and escapism are in luck, because Fortune Favours the Rave, Cabarave’s upcoming clubnight at Concorde 2 is here to transport you back to that sunny realm for one night only. The folk at Cabarave have never done things by half, always seeking to create an immersive environment with something for all the senses to feast upon, and their event on Saturday 3rd Feb will be no different.

Though there doesn’t seem like much to celebrate in February, Imbolc, the festival marking the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox seems like as good a reason to party as any. Maybe spring is just around the corner after all…

Cabarave have been putting on parties and events in and around Brighton for over six years now and they have amassed a roster of returning performers and a loyal community of conscious, diverse ravers, making it one of the most friendly, inclusive nights on the local scene.

Message From The Ravens provide a live music element with their rousing folk invocations. Following a run of festivals last summer, including Green Man, Shambala, Isle of Wight and Boomtown, the Hastings band channel supernatural stories that resonate with ancestral power, connecting the deep magic of the past with a punky feminist present.

Then a roster of DJs spread across two zones will bring a range of celebratory, high-energy dance floor bangers. Highlights include Cabarave’s own DJ Can’t Say No, local turntable legend JFB, and the genre-clashing era-spanning stylings of A.Skillz. Old favourites Dutty Moonshine with their playful brand of bass music, mind-melting drops and pounding beats will bring the party to a climax. Off Me Nut Records’ head honcho Spongebob Squarewave will also be present providing high-BPM rave insanity.

The caba-side of proceedings is fully covered with drag, sword-fighting and burlesque from Cherry Shakewell, Aurora Starr and Celestria, as well as tarot reading, face painting and more. Expect plenty of glitter, lots of bass, beats and enough positive manifestation to power you through the final stretch of winter.
