Founded in 2004, Oska Bright Film Festival is the world’s leading festival for films made by or featuring people with learning disabilities or autism. This year screenings will take place at Brighton Dome Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre, Dukes at Komedia and Depot, Lewes.

This annual event puts people with learning disabilities, autism or Aspergers where they should be, on the big screen. Expect to see bold, exciting and different work from voices you might not have heard before. With less than 5% of disabled people working in the UK film industry, Oska Bright Film Festival, is driven to make change happen. Working internationally with industry partners and funded by the BFI, their team produces the BAFTA qualifying Oska Bright Film Festival, promotes accessible screenings, runs training for venues and develops skills for aspiring filmmakers.

With over 110 films across more than 15 screenings, the festival kicks off on Monday 11th March with a launch night featuring live music and a screening of This Is Going To Be Big. There will be an awards night on 15th March where nine awards will be given out across the 14 strands of this year’s festival.

Screenings at the festival will include witchcraft horror The Cunning, starring Gemma Arterton; Asa (world premiere) starring Nicholas Pinnock; Dead Cat Film, an absurdist horror comedy starring Will Gao and Hugh Bonneville, and many more.

On Saturday 16th there is a lunchtime Best of the Fest event at Dukes at Komedia where you will get the chance to see some of the week’s highlights and serves as a great introduction if you are new to the festival.
