Animal Vegetable Mineral book launch

Animal Vegetable Mineral (AVM), a cult-favourite newsletter-turned-community, is set to launch its first print: the AVM Anthology.

Following three dutiful years of thoughtful weekly (news)letters, the enigmatic duo behind AVM are bringing their work into the promise of print. Billed as an “anthology of letters, a printed acknowledgement of growth”, this 200-page book is a testament to the power of print media, and carving out a niche in good faith that people will soon follow.

AVM has no social media footprint, no flashy marketing campaigns, and little to no information about who runs it. The readers (formerly and fondly named, “Tinys”) have an organic and honest connection to AVM’s eclectic meeting of the personal and polemic, with this book launch offering an opportunity for us to take the URL to IRL. The AVM Anthology is more than just a compendium of selected works, it’s a living legacy of AVM’s written heritage. And for a small token, you can take a copy home for yourself, too.

The launch event, set to take place on Saturday 30th November, is as offbeat as the publication itself. Drawing inspiration from Brighton’s famous Artists Open Houses, the duo will host the event in a flat in Brunswick, affectionately dubbed “AVM Towers”.

The space will be transformed to resemble the office space of the publication, with artwork from the book hung on its walls, a fridge full of drinks, and coffee on the boil. There will be readings by the author (present, although unlikely to be visible as such), and an exclusive first showing of their film, AVM: The Film, made earlier this year.

All are welcome to attend this free event, whether you’re a long-time reader or new to AVM’s world. Join the AVMsphere, the Animal Vegetable Mineral universe, and book your place at the launch here.
