AKAAKAROAR!’s 5th Birthday, Fri 30th January

For the past five years, AKAAKAROAR!’s been one of our best loved club nights. Kicking off with Monday nights at Life, they’ve been consistently ahead of the curve, booking the likes of Joy Orbison, Ben UFO and James Blake before the general public cottoned on. Many local DJs started their careers in the second or third room of an AKAAKAROAR! night at Life or at 10pm at The Tube, and Brighton’s been all the better for it: more diverse, more welcoming, and with more opportunities. Numerous nights, collectives and start-up labels have been spawned in admiration or association.

Committed less to a scene or to financial success than to putting on straight-up good music, AKAAKAROAR!’s been a night that makes us proud and pleased to live in Brighton. Their last hurrah features Berlin’s Mr Ties and fast-paced party-starter Avalon Emerson, along with Place & Space (Ben vs Patrick), Rhythm Junction Records, Lorca Music b2b Charles Green, Dominion b2b Markings and Dubloke, as well as giveaways and cake. Let’s give them the send-off they deserve.
