Franz Ferdinand, Mon 17th March

It’s been 10 years since Franz Ferdinand’s stylish debut album ate the charts and redefined the image of British guitar music. Alex Kapranos and his finely dressed friends honed a witty take on post punk that has undergone only slight tweaks since, with their most recent album, 2013’s ‘Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action’, ticking familiar boxes while maintaining their knack for wiry guitar melodies and a killer chorus. More hardcore sounds come from Leeds’ action packed Eagulls in support.

Stuart Huggett grew up in Hastings, writing fanzines and blogs about the town’s underground music scene. He has been a regular contributor to SOURCE, NME, The Quietus and Bowlegs. His huge archive of magazines, flyers and vinyl is either an invaluable research tool or a bloody pain. He occasionally runs tinpot record label Dizzy Tiger, DJs sporadically and plays live even less.
