Richard Hawley’s acclaimed solo career got off the ground with an eponymous 2000 debut, recorded with the encouragement of old Sheffield friends Steve Mackay and Jarvis Cocker, although he’s been a working musician since his school band Treebound Story got signed way back in 1986. This year’s ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’ found Hawley bringing back guitars in a big way to complement his smooth croon and long developed, forever in demand songwriting and production skills.
