Robert Wyatt Special, Thurs 5th Feb

Posted by Ben Bailey

Having helped define the Canterbury Sound of the 60s during his stint with Soft Machine, Robert Wyatt famously fell out of a window after getting pissed at a party with prog rockers Gong. Confined to a wheelchair, Wyatt rebounded with a classic jazz-tinged solo album ‘Rock Bottom’ and went on to collaborate with the likes of Brian Eno, Scritti Politti and Pink Floyd. Next week Wyatt is the focus of a special night of music, stories and film hosted by The Catalyst Club’s David Bramwell. He’s joined by Marcus O’Dair (one half of electronica duo Grasscut and former editor of SOURCE) whose recent biography ‘Different Every Time’ has been widely lauded by the national press and examines the extraordinary career of the wayward singer and his strange idiosyncratic music.
