Synth-soaked Brooklyn trio Selebrities are so convincingly evocative of 1980s northern England that it’s hard to believe they aren’t the strange spawn of Marc Almond and Gary Numan. Disco, electro, pop – even in a scene saturated with 80s lust, Selebrities manage to stand out as original and effective. Lightly addictive and unforgettable, this isn’t a show you’ll regret. Slow Magic are equally compelling, with breathy overtones and a sense of fantasy you’ll remember from watching The NeverEnding Story, but with an even better soundtrack.
