She could have applied to Tesco or run a library on thin air, but the teenager at the centre of this Alan Ayckbourn play decides to defy destitution by going on the game when her family run out of dosh for the plush Docklands apartment they’ve become accustomed to living in. Contrition, death and outrage all lie in wait in a work sometimes surmised as a state-of-Britain-today piece by Ayckbourn, but more often – as The Little prefer – presented as comedy.
