Laish and Emma Gatrill, Wednesday 15th March

Former Brighton resident Danny Green comes back to town this Wednesday with his band Laish and a third album ‘Pendulum Swing’ that’s been garnering rave reviews. BBC’s 6 Music have been very enthusiastic, with Tom Robinson calling it “beautiful and hypnotic”, Steve Lamacq “a great pop record” and Chris Hawkins said it was “super catchy, making for a really interesting, sophisticated and splendid new discovery.”

Super catchy it is, and if you haven’t yet been wooed by the likes of ‘Love on the Conditional’, ‘Song for Everything’ or the brilliant ‘Learning to Love the Bomb’ then you’re in for a treat. Laish’s first two albums for the Wilkommen label were excellent examples of the singer-songwriter’s craft and ‘Pendulum Swing’ continues where those left off. One of the most distinctive voices in the UK right now, and with a great band, Laish will be well worth catching.

Support comes from Danny’s former band mate Emma Gatrill, fresh from her tour with Sons of Noel and Adrian and a special Women’s Day concert with Kristin McClement at King’s Place in London. She has a new album coming out soon on a Japanese label, and will be worth the admission fee on her own.
