The Level Skatepark Photos

During a sunny weekend in summer SOURCE went to check out the new skatepark on The Level. There’s a strong scene in Brighton so it was important the park was done right, and judging by how busy it has been since the place ‘opened’ it’s safe to say it’s been a huge success.

The new skatepark is part of a larger restoration of The Level carried out by the council on the back of £2.2m lottery funding. Freestyle Skateparks designed and built the new facility after working with the Brighton & Hove Skateparks Association. The result is a well organised park with good lines and areas to ride.

It replaces the older wooden skatepark with a polished concrete park approximately the same size covering 1400m². A large sunken bowl with spine dominates the area along with a mini ramp, stairset and hand rail, kicker ramps, grind block, metal rail, a short ledge with coping and a good area of wonderfully smooth flatland.

Riding it was summarised nicely by local BMXer Rich Harvey: “I love the bowl, loads of lines and great seeing the local riders & skaters already killing it! Should keep me riding for a few more years.”
