Lou Rhodes, Sunday 30th October

Brighton is welcoming the Mercury-prize nominated Lamb singer Lou Rhodes next Sunday, to play an intimate set at Patterns.

Rhodes released her fourth solo album ‘Theyesandeye’ earlier this year, and whilst influenced by Lamb’s electronica, solo Lou Rhodes also brings on board more of a soft, lyrical bent. The Guardian likened it to “a sound that emerges somewhere between Nick Drake, Carole King’s Tapestry and the Wicker Man soundtrack” which is not far off, and should whet the appetite of many a Brighton soul. Songs like ‘All I Need’ with its adoration of “sweet mother nature” or the gorgeous ‘All The Birds’ fit the bill, meshing the innovative instrumental approaches of Lamb with a pastoral folkish sensibility to great effect.

Support comes from excellent emerging electro-folk local act Such Small Hands.
