Rebecca Phoenix Lu spotted in this month's Street Style in Brighton SOURCE magazine, Brighton's best music,arts,club and listings magazine.

The concept of Street Style is never about conforming to a high street pigeonhole – we love to celebrate the more individual looks around town. But we’ve rarely seen a simpler or better-put together look as Rebecca Phoenix Lu – a kind of 50s South Pacific style worn with elegance and panache. She’s just back from Paris where she won a Texprint 2010 sponsorship award for her printed textiles. Texprint is a charity bridging the gap between graduates and industry. Her work was nominated by her tutors – this is clearly someone who knows what she’s doing when it comes to clothes. Have a look at texprint.org.uk. She can add a bottle of Tuaca to her winnings too – the girl is on fire.

“I collect vintage dresses – I have around 200 from the 1920s onwards and I change my look every day. I’m a hoarder… This is a 50s dress from Beyond Retro. The petticoat’s from there too, it went with the dress.”

“They’re from Tatty Devine where I did my work placement, by an Italian designer.”

“It’s from a flea market in New York. They’re Kissing Gourami fishes, you say? I didn’t know that!”

Rebecca received a bottle of Tuaca for her sweet outfit, Tuaca being the perfect stylish drink, bringing out the subtle tones of vanilla and citrus when served long over ice with cola.
