Love Supreme Festival 2020

Proving there are still musical sources to be tapped, Love Supreme Festival has announced some serious talent for their eighth year. Having always championed a broad range of jazz, soul and global music it’s no surprise to see the festival hosting the legendary Isley Brothers, who will be playing their first UK show in 10 years. With ‘Shout’ having been released in 1959 this will be their 60th anniversary and Ron Isley still leads the band, with younger brother Ernie – a relative newcomer having joined in 1969. Their 60s and 70s hits include ‘This Old Heart Of Mine’, ‘It’s Your Thing’, ‘Summer Breeze’ and ‘Harvest For The World’, to name but a few.

Another musician needing little introduction is Sergio Mendes who helped to bring the bossa nova sound to worldwide attention in the mid 60s with his Brasil 66 group. Their albums contained many new arrangements of pop standards with female vocals backed by an incredible group of Brazilian musicians. He is probably best known for his definitive version of Jorge Ben’s ‘Mas Que Nada’ which he later recorded with The Black Eyed Peas.

For those wanting something a little more contemporary, how about some TLC? With 65 million records sold worldwide, they are arguably the biggest American girl group of all time. The group chose not to replace the late Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes so the remaining duo of Chilli and T-Boz will be here to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their classic ‘CrazySexyCool’ album.

Proving the festival’s jazz credentials remain strong, Charles Lloyd’s Kindred Spirits group will be bringing a lifetime’s experience of stretching boundaries and challenging people’s perceptions of the genre, while retaining a sense of elegance and sophistication.

We will add more artist information as it becomes available but this is a seriously strong opening line-up.

Love Supreme Festival, Glynde Place, Glynde. 3rd – 5th July 2020
