Mumford & Sons - Live by Matthew Hodson

Waistcoats on and acoustic guitars out, it would be unfair to say that Mumford & Sons are your typical folk band rocking out tunes about heritage. This is more of a fusion of rock and folk with plenty of opportunity to either jig, jump around or slap your knee! There is no doubt that they are proving to be a popular band with world domination in sight as the place was rammed to the brim as they led the crowd through some of their well known hits from ‘Sigh No More’ as well as a few treats from their up and coming material. A band with no real drummer saw Marcus the lead singer take to the drums for some of these new songs; showing us he can do much more than stamp on that kick drum peddle whilst dousing us in his luscious, croaky vocal chords. Blowing off the roof with their inspired songs and in top-form; at one point the Dome was almost alight with hidden lighting, transforming the venue into something like their video of ‘Little Lion Man,’ and the crowd were swept away with the immense energy that these guys carry with them wherever they go.

This is by no means the first time Mumford & Sons have come to our dear City. If you were lucky enough to catch them at a time before they were selling out arenas all over the world then you may have spotted them at the Fitzherberts, Komedia, Corn Exchange and even more intimate settings. Well done guys, please come back again.
