Holly Johnson, Thurs 16th November

Following the surprise reformation of Frankie Goes To Hollywood for a one-off performance to open the Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year, Holly Johnson has announced a solo European tour. He’ll be taking in five continental cities before embarking on an eight-date UK tour that includes a sell-out hometown show at the iconic Philharmonic Hall and ends at our own Brighton Dome.

Forty years ago, Frankiemania took hold of the country with debut single ‘Relax’ outraging Radio 1 tastemaker DJ Mike Read and going on to sell over two million copies in the UK. This was followed by three more singles with two also hitting the top spot and ‘Welcome To The Pleasuredome’ reaching number 2.

After the troubled recording of their second album and a few less-successful singles the band imploded on tour and ended acrimoniously in the High Court. Johnson signed a new record deal and had a number one album with ‘Blast’, but his second solo album was less successful.

There is a biopic in the making based on Johnson’s 1994 autobiography A Bone In My Flute and, with a reissue of ‘Blast’, Johnson returns to the stage to perform all the Frankie classics alongside ‘Blast’ hits such as ‘Love Train’, ‘Americanos’, ‘Heavens Here’ and ’Atomic City’.

This is a rare chance to see a genuine icon of British music so dust off your dancing shoes and iron those Frankie Says… T shirts.

Tickets are on sale now and available from the box office or online here.
