Sustaining its reputation for snaffling electronic music big hitters for shows (e.g. Basinski, Cortini and Gazelle Twin in the last year or so), the ACCA are opening up the auditorium for Warp alumni Clark next month.

It’s staggering to think that it’s now over twenty years since a young Chris Clark (from St Albans) released his first album ‘Clarence Park’ on the venerable IDM label, marking the start of an impressive creative journey that continues to evolve. Prolific doesn’t really cover the scale and quality of Clark’s musical output. From the fusion of electronica and live instrumentation on ‘Body Riddle’ through to the techno blast of ‘Turning Dragon’ and then, a couple of years ago, the exquisite orchestrations of ‘Playground In A Lake’, he consistently innovates and inspires. Last year’s acclaimed ‘Sus Dog’ album saw Clark add yet another dimension to his music, bringing his own vocals and song conventions to the fore with the assistance of one Thom Yorke, no less.

When you add to this lush catalogue an impressive body of remix work (with the likes of Massive Attack, Nils Frahm and Depeche Mode) as well as composition for film, contemporary dance and multimedia art projects, you begin to recognise Clark’s significance as a musician. Dynamic in the studio and interactive on stage, this promises to be yet another Attenborough Centre event to get you talking.
