Street Style: Rebecca

Rebecca Phoenix Lu spotted in this month's Street Style in Brighton SOURCE magazine, Brighton's best music, arts, club and listings magazine.

The concept of Street Style is never about conforming to a high street pigeonhole – we love to celebrate the more individual looks around town. But we’ve rarely seen a simpler or better-put together look as Rebecca Phoenix Lu – a kind of 50s South Pacific style worn with elegance and panache. She’s just back from Paris where she won a Texprint 2010 sponsorship award for her printed textiles. Texprint is a charity bridging the gap between graduates and industry. Her work was nominated by her tutors – this is clearly someone who knows what she’s doing when it comes to clothes. Have a look at texprint.org.uk. She can add a bottle of Tuaca to her winnings too – the girl is on fire.

Dress from Beyond Retro
“I collect vintage dresses – I have around 200 from the 1920s onwards and I change my look every day. I’m a hoarder… This is a 50s dress from Beyond Retro. The petticoat’s from there too, it went with the dress.”

Shoes by Minna Parrika
“They’re from Tatty Devine where I did my work placement, by an Italian designer.”

Belt from New York
“It’s from a flea market in New York. They’re Kissing Gourami fishes, you say? I didn’t know that!”

Necklace from Tatty Devine
“It just goes with everything else.”

Rebecca received a bottle of Tuaca for her sweet outfit, Tuaca being the perfect stylish drink, bringing out the subtle tones of vanilla and citrus when served long over ice with cola.

Start chilled – finish responsibly.
