Back for the ninth year, Foodies Festival is taking over Hove Lawns for three days. As can be expected for a bank holiday weekend, the weather’s due to be horrendous, but as many of the stalls and activities are under tents, that’s no reason to put off a bout of good old-fashioned gluttony.

Fans of TV chefs are spoiled this year, with Masterchef winner Ping Coombes and The Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite leading the demonstrations, along with local chefs from The Chilli Pickle, Silo and Terre a Terre, amongst others. There’s a Producers Market with over 200 producers and an extended Street Food section, a number of well-stocked bars, and a chilli eating contest for those who feel the need to prove how tough they are by crying in front of their mates.
