Band Of Holy Joy, Sunday 26th October

As you may be aware, Brighton Source loves a Sunday afternoon gig and The Prince Albert continues to feed our craving with another great line up, courtesy of Bizarro Promotions. Band Of Holy Joy, fronted by Johny Brown since their inception in the early 1980s, haven’t played Brighton in a while and live shows in general are increasingly rare.

Their latest album, ‘Scorched Jerusalem‘, was released earlier this year to rave reviews and adds to their glorious discography of powerful yet thoughtful post-punk epics. They’ve been on a rejuvenated creative high for years that shows no sign of letting up so this show is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to see them perform.

They’ve drafted in local friends Asbo Derek to open; another Source favourite that never disappoint. They released their second album ‘Affordable Art’ last year with songs covering everything from being attacked by a pheasant to those bores that have ‘done’ everything. ‘Nails’, their statement on the horrific deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrants found dead in a lorry trailer, is worth the album price alone.

The Prince Albert, Sunday 26th October 2:30pm
