On first listen Daniel Woolhouse aka Deptford Goth could simply be described as a James Blake substitute, but further listens reveal more layers to his sound. The xx, and in particular Jamie xx’s remix work, are touchstones for tracks such as ‘Union’ and ‘People Get Still’, while vocally there is even a air of Bon Iver about him. The Unitarian Church is the perfect setting for his mix of haunting, soulful vocals and electronic beats, creating a perfect blend of old and new.
