Fractured Album Launch, Saturday 20th December

Brighton punk rockers Fractured have long been loved for their erudite take on the social dynamics of the city, with songs like ‘London Road’, ‘Preston Park Popular Front’ and ‘The Enemy (Of The Friends Of Blakers Park)’. This show is to celebrate the release of their latest album ‘Replastered’, which sees the band revisit a dozen of their tongue-in-cheek fan favourites, such as ‘What. Ever’, which hilariously details the horrors of trying to communicate with a moody teenager and having a shopping meltdown on ‘Riot In The Supermarket’. Their live sets are always tight with short, witty songs performed with classic punk riffs, all deftly delivered by vocalist Jeff Hayward.

Supporting are Amelia And The Housewives, possibly Brighton’s finest indie pop band of the moment. Live shows are rare, so this is a golden opportunity to hear their latest single ‘Summer’s Over’ along with their Northern Soul-flavoured debut single ‘Maybe’, released on Damaged Goods Records.

They’re all about having fun so you may be treated to a well-chosen cover such as Otis Clay’s ‘The Only Way Is Up’, famously re-invented by Yazz. If you’re a fan of classic 60s British female singers (think Jackie Trent, Petula and Dusty), channelled through the late, great Kirsty MacColl, you’re in for a treat.

The night kicks off with Danger Of Death, an anti-Fascist, anti-violence, anti-racist, pro-creative, post-punk 3-piece from Brighton and in-between the bands there will be music from special guest DJs Segs (of Ruts DC fame) and Tara Rez (of The Duel and Radio Reverb).

This should be the perfect night out to kick off the Xmas/New Year party season, so get your tickets in advance to avoid missing out.

Fractured’s Replastered album launch show is at The Hope & Ruin on Saturday 20th December.
