There are so many psych bands gigging at the moment that if we could lift ourselves from this smoky haze we’d wonder if we’ve travelled back to the 60s. Even so, Wolf People deserve a notable mention. Technically tight, stylishly right-on and unafraid of a panpipe sample, they released ‘Fain’ at the end of April, and it’s brilliant. Sleazy riffs strut over confident drums, overlaid with grandiose tales of looking through souls and seeing highwaymen. It’s weird and it works.
