The Lovely Eggs, Sat 30th April

Easter may be done and dusted but we still have The Lovely Eggs to look forward to. The oddball married couple from Lancaster are bringing their kitchen sink ditties and distortion pedals to Patterns later this month.

Last month saw the duo reissue their first three albums on coloured vinyl, as well as touring relentlessly. You’d have to be a tough egg indeed not to warm to their joyful, infectious sound, DIY ethos and endearing interactions both with the crowd and with each other. You may find yourself shouting along to songs you didn’t know when they began (‘People Are Twats’ being quite easy to pick up), and having strange dreams afterwards featuring magic onions, digital accordions, and sausage roll thumbs.

One of the UK’s favourite underground bands, with latest releases being highly acclaimed both by 6 Music and the NME, if singalong surrealism underlined with grungy riffs is your thing don’t miss out on this charming couple who continue to evade all attempts by the press to pigeonhole them.
