TST weekender celebrates 20 years of local DIY gigs

After 20 years of shining a light on the gloriously jagged edges of the Brighton DIY music scene and beyond, promoters Tatty Seaside Town are calling it a day. For their last hurrah they are staging a double all-dayer at the Green Door Store on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th March.

As at previous TST all-dayers at The Green Door Store, the line-up will alternate between the main stage and the ‘naughty corner’ in the bar area. It’s a tried and tested formula that allows wall-to-wall music throughout the day with barely a gap in between sets.

The weekend will see many familiar faces of the TST wider family return for one last celebratory noisefest, with the malevolent rock onslaught of Sex Swing (pictured) topping the Saturday bill and Sly & The Family Drone bringing it all to an industrial neo-jazz climax on Sunday. Other old favourites among many to feature on the main stage include I’m Being Good, Joeyfat (also look out for Joeythin in the naughty corner), The Unit AMA, Rattle, The Jonny Halifax Invocation, Epideme and Old Mayor.

Then, in the naughty corner expect some lower octane aural palate cleansers including weird folk legends Hamilton Yarns, the dreamy loopings and tender songwriting of R.Dyer, folk duo Sairie and drowsy guitar reveries from IL Y A.

The event is set to be a showcase for these much-loved artists as well as a joyous send-off for a promoter who has been deeply in tune with the local DIY live music scene for the last two decades.
