The Mine, Friday 6th October

Sep 6, 2023

Posted by Louise Bloom

On Friday night, The Mine celebrates 11 years of underground basslines at its home on Brighton’s seafront. For more than a decade now, the Volks has played host to this groundbreaking clubnight which has brought us early sight of some of the world’s most sophisticated and talented artists in the genre.

This weekend brings together artists from Berlin, Bournemouth, Paris and Belgium. Yoofee has a catalogue that slides backwards into jazz but is rooted now in UK bass genres. Expect some lively, complex flavours ranging from garage to dubstep. He’s joined by Clearlight ticking the box for the sub-sub-sub bass-driven classic dubstep sound, plus a whole host of residents and sharp MCs.

All of which will be reverberating into the eardrums of the typically friendly crowd via the legendary ‘wall of bass’ consisting of 16 bass bins and four mid-tops. It is worth a visit for the experience of being ‘soaked’ in inaudible frequencies and way more fun than a gong-bath.

Heavy drum and bass lovers will be chuffed to see the south coast’s own Overlook on the list downstairs with the UVB-76 crew taking over the basement.
