Holiday Ghosts Announce New Album and Live Shows

Not ones to rest on their laurels, Brighton’s favourite resident skiffle punks are back with a delightful new album, ‘Coat Of Arms’, that will be released on the Fat Cat label in March.

Ahead of that, they have released the first single ‘Sublime Disconnect’ with an accompanying video shot in the lovely West Hill Hall. It is an urgent and propulsive slice of Velvet Undergroundy art rock, with lyrics by Kat linked to her growing up Iranian in both Sweden and then Cornwall.

She sings, “And now they ask who am I and where am I from / Will I find peace when I belong?”, in a passionate song linked both to feeling distant from your roots, common to the modern transient world, and the casual racism that has bubbled to the surface like methane from rotting pond slime in the nastier side of Brexit Britain.

They have also announced two very different Brighton live shows. The first is at The Rose Hill in February and will see them performing rarities and B-sides in a special one-off show. They are then heading out on a UK tour to launch the album throughout April with a closing night at Dust.

The behind-the-scenes momentum is building too. They are now working with both the FMLY booking agency and the Bella Union Band Management, which suggests an upping of the ante in terms of industry heavyweights.

As a result, a tour of the States is planned including a trip to the legendary SXSW Festival. To help them get over there they are running a pretty special garage sale, which includes handmade knitted hats from Kat, and the original drawings and paintings for the artwork from various albums and singles.
