Hove Food Trail 2023

Does the thought of pounding pavements for food sound like your idea of fun? Do the names Cin Cin, Nostos, Wild Flor, Slam Tacos, Fatto a Mano, Fourth & Church, Fika, Carne, The Ginger Pig, and Rockwater get you hot under your foodie collar? Would the notion of eating at all ten restaurants in one fell swoop blow your culinary mind?

Well pick your grey cells off the floor my friend, because thanks to Cin Cin owner David Toscano and former Brighton & Hove City Councillor Chris Henry, and in partnership with Moda Living, the official Hove Food Trail 2023 is here!

From Thursday July 6th to Saturday July 8th, expect to see troupes of hungry Brightonians partaking in a fine food frenzy across the length and breadth of Hove. Each restaurant will produce one dish especially for the occasion, with diners booking in a time slot with each respective restaurant. You can do it all in one go or, if you don’t want to buy shares in Gaviscon, you can stagger your spots on the trail over the three days.

Tickets start at £15 plus booking fee, which gives you access to the trail itself, then it’s up to you which dishes you want to devour. Plates include roasted aubergine, labneh cheese, cultured blueberries, green harissa and black sesame from Fourth & Church for £15; calzoncino fritto with negroni sbagliato (that’s the one with prosecco in it in case you live under a rock and missed last year’s meme to end all memes…) from Fatto a Mano for £12.50; tartar with confit yolk, BBQ beef doughnut, 50-day dry aged sirloin with a glass of red or white Albourne pinot noir from Carne for £12; and crispy pig’s head, sauce gribiche, bread and butter pickles with a small glass of Eins Zwei Dry Reisling from Ginger Pig for £14. Hold my pants, I’m going in.

The best part (aside from the food obviously)? The project will raise money for local charity Off The Fence, who specialise in restoring the lives and hopes of those without a home, women in difficulty, and vulnerable children across Brighton & Hove.

Incoming CEO of Off The Fence Julio Abraham, who will take over from the legendary Paul Young later this year, is excited about what he believes is a 360 degree impact of the initiative. Speaking exclusively to the Brighton Source, Julio said: “When Peter Kyle MP (a patron) approached us to see whether we would like to partner with this exciting new scheme, I knew that I had made the right decision to move from the Midlands down to the coast.

“We plan to use any cash raised to sustain our after-schools clubs that provide support to teachers, individual mentoring to students and a chance for children from different backgrounds to meet and share experiences. We currently partner with six schools in the Hove area. So hundreds of students will benefit, restaurants will find new customers – and Hove’s reputation as a culinary centre will be reinforced!”

Cin Cin’s David Toscano agreed. “The 2023 Hove Food Trail will showcase the best Hove has to offer as a dining destination. Since we opened Cin Cin on Western Road in 2018, the food and drink offering in Hove has got better and better year on year so now is the perfect time to bring it all together in one event to support our community. We can’t wait to share the best of Hove with everyone and raise much needed funds for Off The Fence along the way.”

Hove Food Trail is sponsored by Moda Living, who are behind the Moda, Hove Central rental community which will open its doors on Sackville Road later this year. Obviously tuning into the fact that the way to the city’s heart is through its stomach, giving the initiative financial backing was a total no-brainer for the company’s Marketing Director, Lydia Eustace.

“At Moda Living we’re on a mission to create the happiest and healthiest communities in the UK, with great food, wonderful company and exciting neighbourhoods to explore all playing a major role. As a long-term neighbour to our surrounding communities, we’re also committed to partnering with, and working alongside, local independent businesses. The Hove Food Trail aligns perfectly with all these values and we can’t wait for people to discover the incredible restaurants and talented chefs being showcased in the local area.”

Grab your ticket for the 2023 Hove Food Trail here, with prices starting at £15 plus booking fee. To find out about Moda, Hove Central, go to the official website.
